A young Dinbych side were up against it from the start as they conceded a try in the first minute against a bigger, more physical and well drilled Wrexham outfit. Despite a valiant defensive effort Dinbych struggled in the scrums against a bigger pack who also used their strength to good effect in developing driving mauls which opened up the room for their dangerous backs to exploit. As a result most of Wrexham’s five first half tries either came from short range forward drives or tries wide out by the backs. Dinbych’s front row of hooker Alex Hughes and props Aled Williams and Wlliam Russell worked hard to contain Wrexham at scrum time whilst flankers Gethin Evans and skipper Ioan Jones were at the forefront stopping Wrexham’s forward drives. Behind them half backs Luke Jones and Tomos Luke Jones did their best with limited possession but Dinbych found difficulty to penetrate a tight aggressive Wrexham defence. Trailing by 29 points at the interval Dinbych started the second half well with a sustained period of pressure deep in the Wrexham 22 only for the visitors to break the siege with a length of the field breakaway converted try under the posts. Nevertheless Dinbych continued with an improved performance in the second half forcing Wrexham to work hard to add two further tries before the final whistle.
