Nant at their clinical best at Caeau Les Phillips.

Despite their best efforts a Dinbych side disrupted by a spate of injuries in recent weeks were heavily defeated by a rampant Nant Conwy side who showed why they are top of the table by crossing for a hatful of tries. Even in defence they pounced on any Dinbych error to regain possession, and with excellent support play to counter attack and scored several of their tries from moves starting from near their own line. For Dinbych forwards Guto Parry and Jack Williams had a baptism of fire making their First Team debuts.

Nant opened the scoring after 5 minutes when prop Siencyn Metcalfe was on hand to finish off an attack for a try converted by centre and skipper Caron Davies. Midway through the half Nant went further ahead with two tries by No.8 Carwyn Ellis and scrum half Deian Roberts the second converted by Caron Davies.

Nant then showed their defensive skills by thwarting a length of the field breakaway by Dinbych with a last ditch covering tackle. Dinbych eventually got their reward when hooker Tom Jones touched down as the home forwards generated a driving maul from a short range line out with outside half Tommy Jones adding the conversion points.

Nant reacted by adding three tries in the third quarter, full back Elis Fôn bagging the first, and his back three partner Rhydian Jones the second before flanker Ifan Williams completed the trio of scores. All converted by Skipper Caron Davies to give the visitors a 40 points to 7 lead at the interval.

Nant soon scored again in the opening minutes of the second half with right wing Rhydian Jones crossing for an unconverted try followed by another by outside half Jac Ellis from a short range scrum. Replacement No.8 Sam Hughes then went over for a try from a short range line out with Caron Davies adding the conversion. A try from a tap penalty by Elis Fôn completed his hat trick followed with flanker Brychan Dafydd taking advantage of a missed tackle in midfield to break through for a try converted by Caron Davies.

Nant continued to press hard in the closing minutes and despite Dinbych’s defensive efforts added a second try by Sam Hughes and one by prop Emlyn Jones both of which were converted by Caron Davies taking his successful kicks to nine.
