Dinbych had to work hard to gain the season’s double over their Gwynedd visitors. It was achieved through the strong scrummaging and driving mauls generated by the forwards, the excellent defensive effort to stop powerful Bro attacks and their ability to be clinical in taking their scoring opportunities.

Bro started the game playing with the advantage of a gusting diagonal wind in their favour. The hosts opened the scoring in the second minute when they counter-attacked from a relieving kick from just inside their own half. Good inter-passing by the backs down the left ended with centre Callum Evans crossing for a try which he then converted.

Dinbych responded well to this set-back and replied 5 minutes later when the forwards had taken play deep into the Bro 22 with a powerful driving maul down the left hand touch. Possession was recycled infield and good handling by the backs released right wing Kieran Bonar to go over for an unconverted try wide out. Play was then fairly even until midway through the half when Dinbych took the lead with an unconverted try by No.8 Narmer EL-Lamie who forced his way after another driving maul from a short range line out. There was no further scoring before half time leaving Dinbych leading by 10 points to 7 at the interval.

Dinbych then went further ahead early in the second half when strong scrummaging by the Dinbych forwards pushed the Bro pack over the line for Narmer EL-Lamie to touch down for his second unconverted try. Dinbych were now making good use of the diagonal wind to pin Bro back deep in their 22, forcing the visitors to concede penalties. This gave skipper Dan O’Sullivan the opportunity to put over two successful kicks to give Dinbych a healthy lead of 21 points to 7 midway through the second half.                      

Bro however raised their game to get the better of the match territorially in the final quarter. Their powerful ball carriers stretched the Dinbych defence to its limits forcing the hosts to concede a string of penalties resulting in two yellow cards. The 13 man Dinbych defence managed to hold out until the dying minutes when Bro finally broke through from a short range scrum with Outside Half Joseff Edwards sniping over for a try converted by Scrum Half Huw Evans.
