Seddon Hat Trick helps Dinbych to victory

Dinbych’s encouraging start of the season continued with a second bonus point victory, this time away at Bangor. This was a fine effort from a young and inexperienced Dinbych side which included four of last year’s youth side with Aled Williams, Dan Edwards and Elgan Jones making their senior debuts whilst Luke Jones was only playing his second. The speed and skill of Dinbych’s midfield backs was a vital factorwith their ability to create and score from long distance.

Dinbych opened the scoring when lock Jamie Williams won line out possession just inside the Bangor half. Flanker Robin Williams then broke down the middle linking with centre Gruff Roberts who released Tom Seddon to go over for a try in the corner. Skipper Dan O’Sullivan converted with an excellent kick from the touchline.

Dinbych increased their lead with an excellent try from a counter attack after they turned over possession just outside their own try line. Dan O’Sullivan made a searing break to half way where a clever switch pass gave Gruff Roberts the opportunity to use his pace to outflank the Bangor defence and go over for a try again converted by Dan O’Sullivan.

Bangor eventually replied with a try from No.8 Ryan Butler who broke away from a maul in front of the Dinbych posts to go over for a try converted by full back Steffan Owen.

Dinbych pulled away once again with an outstanding solo effort from Dan O’Sullivan who broke from a scrum near his own line with a length of the field run in for a try.

Dinbych’s fourth try came after they forced Bangor to restart with a kick from their try line. The kick was fielded by wing Will Jones just inside the home half with slick handling ending with Tom Seddon going over for his second try in the cornerwith Dan O’Sullivan adding the conversion points.

They closed their scoring with their fifth try on the stroke of half time when Gruff Roberts capitalised on a turn over of possession just inside the Dinbych half to break strongly through the centre into the Bangor 22 before kicking cleverly to the right for Tom Seddon to gather and go over for his hat trick try. Dan O’Sullivan converted to leave Dibych 33 points to 7 ahead at the interval.

Although Dinbych continued to have the better chances a determined defence by Bangor meant they failed to add further points in the second half with the only score being an unconverted try by Bangor’s left wing Aled Griffiths.
