Dinbych were involved in yet another high scoring Division 1 North match away at Bethesda which produced 11 tries with the hosts claiming the lion’s share. With evenly contested play throughout this was the result of the host’s ability to retain possession for multiple phases and exploit any individual errors in Dinbych’s normally resilient defence. Dinbych however showed their attacking potential to score 4 of their own to gain a try bonus point.
Dinbych started well and opened the scoring after a number of short range drives to the line by the forwards. Possession was then recycled to the backs for wing Aidyn Jones to go over for a try in the corner converted by outside half Tommy Jones. Bethesda replied when inter passing by the backs from halfway led to centre Gwion Kälimark going over for a try converted by co-centre Tomos Hughes. The hosts then went ahead with an unconverted try try by Tomos Hughes after Dinbych were slow to react to a quickly taken short range tap penalty. The hosts extended their lead just before the interval when outside half Steff Owain crossed for a try with Tomos Hughes converted leaving them ahead by 19 points to 7 at half time.
Bethesda drew further ahead early in the second half with a second but unconverted try by Gwion Kälimark before Dinbych struck back with a brace of tries. First Aidyn Jones went over in the corner for his second but unconverted try then full back Gruff Roberts scored a trademark try from deep in his own half with Tommy Jones adding the extras.
Bethesda regained control and restored their lead with tries by prop Leon Shaw and full back Iestyn Tomlinson both converted by Tomos Hughes. Dinbych again responded well with scrum half Evan Hurlow intercepting on half way before going over in the corner for his debut try for the club.
Bethesda closed the scoring in the dying minutes with an unconverted try by Tomos Hughes after Dinbych had been reduced to 13 having two players sin binned in a desperate defensive operation.
